Elena Brake (b. 1993) is an emerging artist based in Plymouth, UK. Through performance, installation and video she reimagines and enchants our everyday experiences. Drawn to the innate curiosity of human nature, Brake's work plays on the edge of boredom and anticipation through the exaggeration and repetition of mundane details.  The audience is invited to experience a refocusing of their attention upon overlooked moments of ordinary life, often stirring complicated and unexpected emotional responses. Brake's practice captivates through its blunt simplicity and accessibility.  The playful moments of pause offered by her work allows the viewer a chance to savour small moments of enlightenment in the everyday, revealing the magic of domestic and public experience.
